Greenrealestate™ Certify Your Home

A key component of National Association Of Green Agents and Brokers lay with increasing home energy conservation and the energy efficiency in our existing housing stock. The National Association Of Green Agents and Brokers supports the adoption and effective implementation of across the board new and resale home energy audits because they provide a critical function by establishing a “base level” comparison capability of energy efficiency to the consumer.

Greenrealestate™ certified homes undergo a rigorous energy audit performed by an independent Certified Home Energy Auditor (Canada) or Home Energy Rater (USA).

Each audit will provide a home energy rating which is a standardized measurement of a homes energy efficiency. Ratings are successfully used to assist in the purchase and sale of properties.

The independent energy auditor reviews the home to identify its energy characteristics, such as insulation levels, window efficiency, wall-to-window ratios, the heating and cooling system efficiency, the solar orientation of the home, and the hot water heating system. Performance testing such as a blower door test for air leakage and duct leakage, is part of the rating process.

The data gathered by the energy auditor is entered into an accredited computer program (Energy Star/Energuide) and translated into a rating score. The home will receive a score between 1 and 100, depending upon its relative efficiency.

In new homes, Green Brokers™ and Green Agents™ often verify energy performance on behalf of home buyers or sellers using the Energy Star new homes program.

In existing homes, Green Brokers™ and Green Agents™ often verify energy performance on behalf of home buyers or sellers in accordance with the Energy Star program (USA) and Energuide rating system in Canada.

An energy rating allows a homebuyer to easily compare the energy performance of the homes being offered or considered through their Green Broker™ or Green Agent™.

The energy rating also allows a Home sellers Green Agent™ or Green Broker™ to successfully highlight and market the energy efficiency attributes of the home being marketed.

The rating score provide an easily understandable means to compare more or less energy efficient homes by their relative energy efficiency, since a rating quantifies the energy performance of a home.
